Services

As a board-certified family physician, Dr. Courtney Mizuhara-Cheng is able to provide a wide range of services and procedures for the entire family with an emphasis on disease and injury prevention. Age-appropriate and lifestyle based recommendations are offered. These services include but are not limited to the following:

Annual physical exams

Evaluation of current medical problems, chronic medical conditions, family history, social history and physical examination form the basis of health assessment and management.  Blood work to identify new conditions or monitor old conditions can be performed in the office.

Well child physicals

Growth and development are monitored.  Respecting the vaccine debate, delay or refraining from vaccinations can be discussed on an individual basis according to the values and concerns regarding risks and benefits. 

Sports physicals

Sports physicals are individualized based on sport with an emphasis on identifying risk factors for most common injuries and diseases.   A Functional Movement Screening test and Neuromuscular Reeducation can be provided as requested for further evaluation. 

Geriatric consultation

The aging population has a unique set of issues that require special attention.  Reducing medications that may be cause more harm than benefit becomes important.  Assessing any changes in cognition, activities of daily living, and mood become just as important as maintaining chronic medical conditions.  Discussing end of life wishes, social situation and family dynamics also play a vital role in the health and well-being of the aged.

Evaluation and Management

Non-surgical, natural approach to address illness, injuries or other medical concerns (using medications only when necessary).  When available, complementary alternative recommendations (e.g., osteopathic manipulative treatments, clinical homeopathy, medical acupuncture) will be offered with discussion of risks and benefits.

Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT)

A form of drug-free non-invasive manual medicine that focuses on total body health by releasing restricted areas of the body.

Medical Acupuncture

Method of encouraging the body to promote natural healing and to improve functioning by inserting needles and applying heat or electrical stimulation at very precise acupuncture points.

Therapeutic Exercises

Exercises to develop strength, endurance, range of motion and flexibility under direct supervision.

Neuromuscular Reeducation

Corrective exercises aimed to restore functional movement, balance, coordination, kinesthetic sense, posture and proprioception under direct supervision.

Therapeutic Activities

Dynamic activities to improve functional performance under direct supervision.
